Planning underway for the 2025 ANAO Conference

Dear President Duncan and ANAO colleagues,

Happy New Year!

Thank you to those who have expressed a willingness to be part of the planning committee for the educational component of the ANAO Conference, to be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 15 and 16 May 2025.

The planning committee will consist of:

  • Allyson (USA)

  • Clayton (Canada)

  • Grace (Taiwan)

  • Stephanie Lockhart (Canada – Executive Director of our national judges’ association)

  • Denis (Canada)

  • Lukasz (Canada)

  • Bill (Canada)

  • Caroline (Australia)

I would like to ask all planning committee members to start thinking about topics and potential speakers for the educational component of the conference, which will take place on day one – 15 May 2025. I would also appreciate it if the Secretariat could send out a poll to canvass the planning committee’s availability for our first online meeting. Ideally, this meeting should take place in January or early February 2025.

Whether you are on the planning committee or not, if you have not yet done so, please advise both me and Stephanie Lockhart (slockhart@cscja.ca) of your intention to attend the conference. At this stage, we have not yet decided whether a registration fee will apply. If a fee is required, I assure you it will be modest — comparable to the fee paid by delegates to attend the 2023 conference in Washington, DC.

We are currently finalising our contract with the conference hotel and will provide further details very shortly.

Conference Overview

The conference will be divided into two parts:

  • Day One – 15 May: Educational and business sessions at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on the Toronto Islandshttps://rcyc.ca

  • Day Two – 16 May: Community events, including a tour of Campbell Househttps://www.campbellhousemuseum.ca, followed by a visit and tour of Osgoode Hall and the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where we will be welcomed and addressed by the Chief Justice of Ontario, the Honourable Michael Tulloch. A luncheon at the Ontario Bar Association will follow, with an opportunity to hear from the leaders of both the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. The rest of the afternoon will be free time for delegates.

We warmly invite you to join us in Canada and enjoy what promises to be a wonderful conference. We look forward to welcoming all of you to Toronto, from every corner of our ANAO map.

Thank you,
Clay Conlan
