Auckland Conference — August 2022

Nau mai, haere mai.  Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Ni sa bula vinaka, Namaste, Kia orana, Taloha ni, Ia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo ni, Mauri. Ki Tāmaki Makaurau,

Damn this disease, it’s been such a long time since we could gather together. So, good on our leaders for their invitation to Auckland! As you countdown to August, standby for more news and opportunities to enjoy the company of colleagues and also contribute in our own small way to the work of NZAWJ and JANZ charitable projects.

These triennial conferences provide valuable opportunities of many kinds. Not only are they occasions of companionship and support, but they’re also occasions of learning. I am sure we will be joined by some extraordinarily capable, generous, wise, and dedicated colleagues and academics who will lead an exchange of ideas so that we can think critically and respond creatively to the challenges we face and recognise the challenges and opportunities we have not seen.

JANZ looks forward to seeing you in Auckland, our beautiful city built around a stunning waterfront. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable or enjoyable, just ask us at admin@janz.nz before you arrive or drop in to ‘Our Place’ at the Cordis especially on Wednesday evening ‘after work’.

Tāmaki Makaurau, the Māori name for Auckland, means Tāmaki desired by many. Auckland is indeed a beautiful city built around a stunning waterfront, which has been developed into a vibrant entertainment area with a host of upmarket restaurants, bars, and shops with award-winning food and wine, and renowned hospitality. Make the most of your trip by joining us one night at a JANZ-hosted dinner. You will be most welcome. I look forward to meeting you there.

Nga mihi nui
