The Judicial Conference of Australia Colloquium for 2020 will be held in Auckland from Thursday, 8 October to Sunday, 11 October together with the Judges Association of New Zealand.
The programme is still being developed, and the usual registration material will be provided to members early in 2020. This ‘date claimer’ is designed to give members some extra time to make plans if they intend to take part.
The programme is in a draft form and is being created. The following is subject to change but will give you an idea of some of the topics to be covered:
Courts and Parliament: Is Dicey’s Day Done?
The state of the relationship between the judiciary and the legislature.
Judicial independence down under

What is the content of the right to trial by jury?
Transformative justice and sectoral courts
