Happy New Year!
Thank you to those who expressed a willingness to be a part of the planning committee for the educational component of the ANAO conference to be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on May 15 and 16, 2025.
The planning committee will be:
Allyson (USA)
Clayton (Canada)
Grace (Taiwan)
Stephanie Lockhart (Canada – Executive Director of our national judges’ association)
Denis (Canada)
Lukasz (Canada)
Bill (Canada)
Caroline (Australia)
I am asking, please, that all members of the planning committee start thinking about a topic or topics, and a speaker or speakers, for the educational component of the conference – that is day 1, May 15, 2025. I am also asking, please, if the Secretariat could send out a poll to canvass availability of the planning committee members for our first online meeting. That first online meeting of the planning committee should be held in January 2025 or in early February 2025.
Whether you are on the planning committee or not, if you have not done so already, please advise both me and Stephanie Lockhart, slockhart@cscja.ca, of your intention to attend the conference. At this stage, we have not decided if a registration fee will be required. If so, I assure you that it will be relatively modest and in the range of that paid by delegates to attend the conference in Washington, DC in 2023.
We are finalizing our contract with the conference hotel and will advise you of those particulars very shortly.
The conference will be divided into two components. On day 1, May 15th, we will have the educational and business sessions at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in the Toronto Islands – https://rcyc.ca. On day 2, May 16, 2025, we will have community events including a tour of Campbell House, https://www.campbellhousemuseum.ca, and a visit to and tour of Osgoode Hall and the Court of Appeal for Ontario where we will be greeted and addressed by the Chief Justice of Ontario, the Honourable Michael Tulloch, and a luncheon at the Ontario Bar Association together with an opportunity to hear from the leaders of the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. The rest of the day on May 16th will be free time for the delegates.
Please come to Canada and enjoy a wonderful conference. We would like to see all of you in Toronto, from every corner of our ANAO map.
Thank you,
Clay Conlan
