It is with sadness that we acknowledge the death of JANZ founding member Judge Rob Ronayne.
Rob, a senior trial judge at the Auckland District Court, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, 7 January 2020. Rob was appointed to the bench in 2013 after 34 years of legal practice in Auckland, Rotorua, and Tauranga. The Chief District Court Judge, Judge Heemi Taumaunu, said,“His judicial colleagues will remember fondly his flair, wit, and tireless dedication to serving the administration of justice. Rob is survived by his wife Renee, children Declan and Elliot, step children Brittany, Dane, and Tia, and his mother Grace.
