When heading off on your end-of-year holidays, it’s important to make sure your personal and work devices are protected from any cybersecurity incidents that may try to present themselves over the holiday season. Here are a few tips to reduce the chances of a security breach.
Make sure you lock your devices whenever they aren’t in use
When you leave your devices unlocked (even just to duck inside the caravan) you run the risk of someone being able to jump onto your laptop or phone and access personal information or data. Lock your device whenever you’re not using them.
Avoid using public WiFi
It’s much more secure to use your phone plan’s 4G and hotspot if required. Connecting to public WiFi isn’t always very secure.
Update your passwords
Try not to use the same password for everything — if it’s guessed once, then a cyber attacker can use it for all your assets. Change your passwords before you go away, and make sure you have different passwords for all important accounts.
Don’t leave your devices unattended
Physical theft of your electronic devices is just as bad as cyber breaches. Lock away your laptop when it’s not being used to avoid it being stolen and your private information potentially breached.
