Winter is here and for some this will be the first winter spent in New Zealand for quite some time... Whether you're just going to make better use of the bach, take the opportunity to really explore New Zealand or spoil yourself (and your family) on a special occasion, we hope today's ideas will offer some inspiration.
Update on UK and Europe travel
Singapore Airlines has returned to New Zealand skies, although at this stage it is just for one-way flights to help UK / Europe residents leave New Zealand (return flights are not yet available).
Qatar Airways currently offers the most weekly services to the UK and Europe, albeit via Australia. Emirates is scheduled to return in July with a direct service from Dubai, however we understand they are just waiting on government approval.
For those that need to travel we are keeping our UK/Europe page updated with details of the airlines offering flights and I am available to assist with booking one-way or return airfares.
Luxury lodges — special offers and packages
We are now seeing an enticing selection of special offers from Luxury Lodges and Premium Properties around New Zealand. These are often taking the form of "Stay 4, Pay 3" type offers and packages with meals and extras included.
From winter getaways through to marking a special occasion, these properties can be the focus of an itinerary, or part of a longer self-drive itinerary through New Zealand.
Ski holiday packages
If 2020 is the year you decide to return to the slopes, or to even take the family away to try skiing for the first time, I can help with the planning. Through our wholesale partners we have access to ski-packages in the North and South Islands that can include accommodation, passes and gear (or even just the accommodation if you're already set up).
Escorted coach tours — including rail
Although escorted coach tours are a popular way of exploring overseas, it is rare for New Zealand travellers to see the advantages of exploring New Zealand in a luxury coach. The leading tour companies have responded to this by reworking their New Zealand itineraries to be more suitable for domestic, rather than international travellers.
The benefits of an escorted coach tour remain:
Structured itinerary with experienced guides
Access to authentic experiences
An opportunity to enjoy the views rather than focussing on the road
Including rail and cruise options
Familiar names like APT Touring, Trafalgar and Insight Vacations are offering itineraries, with discounts currently available.
Plan for your travel style
