The IAJ calls upon Russia immediately to withdraw its troops from Ukraine and to resolve any dispute according to accepted principles of international law.
Countries, including Russia, have for many years established international mechanisms to resolve genuine disputes to avoid war and international tyranny.
Every country, and the people of every country, has an interest in peaceful resolution of genuine disputes. We all benefit from peaceful coexistence in the knowledge that genuine disputes between nations are resolved according to international law rather than military action.
The rule of international law protects all from harm and allowed all countries and all of their people to live safely, securely, in prosperity and with dignity.
The recent actions by Russia in Ukraine undermines the rule of law and threatens the safety, security, prosperity and dignity of us all.
The IAJ calls upon Russia immediately to affirm its commitment to the international rule of law and immediately to withdraw its troops from the territory of its neighbouring country.
Our hopes are especially with Ukrainian Judges who served their country, their families and Rule of Law. The Presidency Committee of the International Association of Judges
